Two dead, 11 trapped in Shaanxi mine accident

Two people have died and 11 others are trapped after a mine accident in northwest China's Shaanxi province on Wednesday morning, the local government said on Wednesday.

Thirty-seven miners were working in the mine, which is under construction, in Yulin City when the accident happened at 11:00 am. Twenty-six workers were lifted out and 11 others were trapped underground.

Two of the injured died in hospital.

Rescue work is under way.
