A 21-year-old restaurant worker died after the elevator she was in fell from the first floor to the bottom of the elevator shaft Monday in a building on Huaihai Road, local media reported.
The victim, surnamed L??, was sent to the hospital with severe head trauma, but didn't survive.
Authorities are still investigating why the elevator fell.
