All Chinese have responsibility to safeguard sovereignty

China's Foreign Ministry spokesman said Friday that all Chinese, including people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, have the responsibility to safeguard China's sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands.

The Diaoyu Islands and the affiliated islets have been the inherent territory of China since ancient times, Hong Lei said at the ministry's daily press conference.
