Some 370 Shanghai group tourists in Maldives are safe after a political power shift in the country that saw a new president sworn in after police clashed with rioters Tuesday, said local tourism authorities.
Tourism authorities were Tuesday unsure of how many individual tourists from Shanghai were in Maldives, but said that most of the tourists should not be affected by the political situation given that many of them are on the islands outside the nation's capital Male.
