(Ecns.cn)--Electrical home appliances in two residential buildings in the Sha Pingba District of Chongqing suddenly exploded simultaneously on Sunday afternoon, scaring residents who rushed out of their homes, according to reports Monday.
In the afternoon, two wiremen were checking the electrical cabinet of two buildings in the district, and abruptly, electrical appliances of over a hundred families exploded and some of the appliances even starting smoking.
"It was really scary," said a female resident whose television made a boom sound and began to smoke when she was watching a program. The TV screen, after the sound, turned black and the woman rushed to turn off the electrical switch and went down stairs.
To her surprise, she was not the only person that hurried out of their home. Some people's air conditioners or refrigerators started smoking. Most the residents were shocked at first, but later, most felt angry because of the unexplainable explosion.
Some suspected that the reason might be caused by the two workers who when checking the cabinet may have charged excessive voltage into it. But according to the Chongqing branch of the State Grid, the cause is still under investigation.
